отец. Слово вполне уважительное, хотя и неформальное.Но у него есть еще и много иных значений, причем все они очень разные и очень популярные. Например: газированная вода; "хлопок" при стрельбе; попса (она и в Америке попса). Словом "pop" называют также наркотики, поэтому to pop - может означать "колоться" или принимать неположенные таблетки.Как практически все короткие разговорные слова, это слово может относиться и к сексу. В этом случае оно имеет примерно ту же эмоциональную силу, что и "to jazz", "screw", то есть послабее, чем fuck. Но, как мы знаем, в приличном обществе и так говорить неприемлемо. При всех ведь не спросишь: (*)"Did you pop her?" (Ты засунул ей?)(*)
Pop someone's cherry (to) — не побоимся научного термина - дефлорировать. Дословно - проколоть вишенку (см. Have (one's) cherry (HAVE)).(*)
Pop one's cookies (to) — не побоимся еще одного научного слова - получить оргазм.Pop one's cork (to) — выражение означает примерно то же, что и наше "сорваться с цепи". Дословно - вырваться как пробка (подразумевается - шумно, как из бутылки шампанского). В то же время есть совершенно приличное, не экспрессивное значение того же слова - ударить. Хотя...
Pop off (to) — умереть, отключиться, "свалить". Но есть еще и значение: болтать, жаловаться.
Popper — зависит от того, где вы находитесь, с кем общаетесь. На эбониксе это пистолет. А в других кругах - амилнитрит. Есть личности, которые всегда носят нюхательную бутылочку в кармане, на случай если придется к месту. Зачем? Poppers make your slutty, eh!
